Digital Managing Editor, December 2021 – September 2022
As the digital managing editor of the Daily Trojan, I oversaw all digital sections including podcast, audience engagement (which I was the former editor of), online projects, video, and advertising/fundraising, making sure that we were properly covering the USC community. In addition to overseeing digital sections, I facilitated cross-collaboration with print sections to cover topics in an array of platforms and mediums. I also directed daily production, ensuring that all articles were published correctly on the website.
One major project I oversaw was creating Daily Trojan‘s first donation page to facilitate alumni support and provide the publication with the proper resources to flourish.
As part of the project, I oversaw the digital team’s production of a video promoting the donation page. I also oversaw a social media campaign to draw donors to the new donation website.
Audience Engagement Editor, August 2021 – December 2021
Instagram in-feed post for a column, Trojan Psyche
As the audience engagement editor of the Daily Trojan, I was in charge of the newspaper’s social media channels (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook), making sure our talented writers had their work seen. I created graphics for in-feed and story posts, drafted and edited copy, and oversaw a group of 10 staffers who assisted with scheduling tweets and Facebook posts. Additionally, I was in charge of covering breaking news, reaching thousands of USC students daily.
Accomplishments:
- Implemented Instagram stories drawing in an average of 705 clicks on articles daily
- Instagram following grew 50% from August to December
- Boosted profile impressions by 1250% through consistent in-feed posts and Instagram stories
- Collaborated with print sections to create content that resonated well with social media audiences
